Enjoying Hibachi at Home: A Guide to Creating Hibachi Dinner, Catering, and Parties

If you’re a fan of hibachi restaurants, you know how exciting it is to watch the chef prepare your meal right in front of you. The flavors are always vibrant and satisfying. Before the pandemic, my family would regularly visit hibachi spots, often enjoying a hibachi dinner together every couple of months. Last year, however, I had a strong craving for hibachi, but this time, I decided to try making it at home. The result was delicious, but I quickly realized I needed multiple skillets to cook everything. Then, I invested in a Blackstone Griddle, and when I tried making hibachi again, it was a total game-changer! Now, I can prepare all my favorite hibachi meals quickly and all at once.

One of the key ingredients to making hibachi at home is garlic butter. It plays a major role in the hibachi experience, enhancing the flavors of nearly every dish. It’s easy to make—just soften butter, mix in garlic, and add a few seasonings, and you’re good to go.

You’ll also want to use day-old rice or rice that’s been chilled for a few hours. Freshly cooked rice tends to be too soft and mushy for hibachi-style dishes. Personally, I don’t add eggs to my fried rice, but you can certainly do so if you like. I prefer keeping it simple with just diced onions in my rice, but peas and carrots are also popular choices. The hibachi restaurant I frequent doesn’t include vegetables in the rice, which is why I stick to onions.
